The department of Religion at Dickinson College seeks an adjunct colleague to join the department for Fall 2024. One course will be offered, with the potential for a second, according to departmental needs. Ideal candidates will be equipped to teach introductory courses in East Asian religions, especially Buddhism and Hinduism. Area of expertise within these traditions is flexible; scholars interested in issues around sustainability or contemporary iterations of religious expression, and those employing social-scientific approaches are particularly welcome to apply.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Religion REQUIRED (ABD or PhD coursework preferred)
Teaching experience at the college or university level, or verifiable pedagogical training
The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body
Job Specifics:
One course on Buddhism (with potential for a second course in a First Year Seminar)
Fall 2024 (with potential for on-going opportunities)
3 hours of weekly in-class teaching (either 1 or 2 days a week), and 1 hour of office time for student availability PER CLASS offered
No service is required, but candidate may choose to attend faculty meetings if they desire (departmental and all-college)
