We are looking for an innovative designer to join our team and help us shape the future of our design at Simpson Strong-Tie. As a Senior UX Product Designer, you will be responsible for leading the design of complex user experiences and interfaces, ensuring that our product is intuitive, functional, and visually appealing. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and user research to define and deliver exceptional user experiences that meet the needs of our customers. You’ll demonstrate your creativity, analytical skills, and knowledge of user-facing technologies to enable efficient, high-quality execution and communications as well as launch innovative features for a diverse product portfolio. This position reports to the Team Manager, UX Product Design.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Product Design (40%)
- Lead the design of complex user experiences and interfaces, ensuring they are intuitive, functional, and visually appealing.
- End-to-end design process from research and ideation through to prototyping and testing.
- Use design thinking methodologies to generate and explore ideas.
- Prototype design concepts and features in collaboration with other designers, product managers, and engineers.
- Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that effectively communicate design solutions and align with user needs.
- Validate solutions through user testing and research.
- Participate in design critiques and provide constructive feedback to improve the quality of the design output.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends and best practices in UX design and technology, in order to continuously improve the design process and output.
- Identify emerging technologies, services, and spaces that can enhance the user experience across our digital product portfolio.
- Mentor junior designers and provide design guidance within design team.
Cross-Functional Teams Collaboration (40%)
- Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to understand the business and customer needs while leveraging data and analytics to inform design decisions.
- Be a leader to ensure the technical feasibility of UX engineered solutions that work across with multiple browsers and devices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and user research, to define and deliver exceptional user experiences that meet the needs of our customers.
- Partner with other teams across the organization to weigh in on project priorities, project estimation, and risk identification for roadmap projects.
- Work closely with UX Engineers, Project Managers, and Subject Matter Experts to implement versatile solutions to design challenges.
Design System (20%)
- Develop and maintain a design system that ensures consistency across our products and enables scalability.
- Steer the development of reusable clean UX patterns and frameworks for both simple or complex user tasks.
- Help to shape our design standards to maintain across product development.
- Continual management of clear usage guidelines shared among designers and developers.
- Eliminate existing design inconsistencies and improve future workflows for both designers and developers as the design team scales up.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- At least 6 years of experience in UX design for complex products.
- A passion for turning complex problems into simple and engaging solutions.
- A portfolio of work that demonstrates your design process, problem-solving skills, and the impact of your work on the product.
- Experience leading complex user and metrics-driven design solutions.
- Mastery of Figma.
- Strong understanding of design systems, typography, layout, color, and interaction design principles.
- Experience leading design projects from concept to delivery, working with cross-functional teams, and managing stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present design solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of software engineering workflows and principles is encouraged
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field is preferred.

This job operates in both a professional office environment, customer sites and outdoor construction job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printer/scanner, etc. The employee occasionally works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
This job requires 5% domestic travel.
WORK STATUS & LOCATION
This full-time, exempt position is located in Pleasanton, CA but may be open to Remote Work.

Pay
$ 89,000 - $144,100 /year
*Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.
