Position Summary
The Epic Ambulatory Analyst will play a pivotal role in optimizing the use of Epic's Beacon and Willow modules within our healthcare organization. The position will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the seamless integration of pharmacy workflows and processes within the Epic system, ultimately enhancing patient care and medication management. The role requires a blending of clinical knowledge, technical skills with a comprehension of the operational department and its information systems tools and requirements. In addition, this role provides analytical expertise to information systems end users with the overall objective of improving the use of application systems functionality (e.g., enhancing workflow, optimizing business processes, and identifying appropriate systems solutions). The individual needs a solid understanding of the clinical operations of MFA’s ambulatory practices including (but not limited to) order entry, clinical documentation, and charge capture. The highly motivated individual will meet regularly with end users to assist with strategic planning and innovation to meet institutional, departmental, and patient care needs.

System Configuration and Maintenance:
- Utilize expertise in pharmacy operations and Epic Beacon and Willow to configure and maintain the Beacon and Willow modules according to organizational requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot technical issues, perform system upgrades, and implement enhancements to improve system performance and usability.
Workflow Analysis and Optimization:
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of pharmacy workflows and processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization within the Epic Beacon and Willow modules.
- Work closely with pharmacy staff and other stakeholders to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Beacon Plan Configuration:
- Design and configure Beacon Plans within the Epic system based on clinical requirements and best practices.
- Customize workflows, order sets, treatment plans, and decision support tools within Beacon Plans to align with oncology protocols and guidelines.
- Conduct detailed analysis of clinical processes and requirements to translate them into effective Beacon Plan configurations.
- Work closely with project teams to gather and document requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate Beacon Plan configurations and ensure adherence to functional and technical specifications.
- Perform thorough quality assurance checks to verify the accuracy, reliability, and usability of Beacon Plans before deployment.
- Monitor the performance and effectiveness of Beacon Plans post-implementation, identifying opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
Training and Support:
- Develop and deliver training programs and educational materials to support pharmacy staff in effectively utilizing the Epic Beacon and Willow modules.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to end-users, addressing questions, resolving issues, and facilitating the adoption of new features and functionalities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement updates, enhancements, and new features to improve clinical workflows and patient outcomes.
- Stay current with Epic software updates, industry trends, and oncology best practices to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Collaborate with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure that pharmacy practices within the Epic system align with industry regulations and organizational policies.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to monitor system performance, data integrity, and adherence to established standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Generate comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, workflow diagrams, and training materials, to support effective system utilization and knowledge transfer.
- Compile and analyze data from the Epic Beacon and Willow modules to generate reports and insights that inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Epic certification in Beacon and Willow or significant experience working with the modules is required.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, clinical workflows, and medication management processes within a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in system configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting within the Epic environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and compliance in all aspects of work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working as a pharmacist in an oncology or infusion center and/or retail setting.
- Previous experience in a healthcare IT or informatics role.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to medication management and oncology pharmacy practice.

- Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull over 100 lbs. as part of the role.
- Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.
