About the Position:
As an Estimator at Ace, you will play a crucial role in our success by accurately estimating costs and timelines for projects. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver exceptional service to our clients while maintaining profitability. We are looking for an individual who not only possesses technical expertise but also embodies our core values of accountability, communication, family, exceptional service, and profitability.
Accountability
- Take ownership of cost and timeline estimates and be accountable for their accuracy.
- Identify potential risks and provide recommendations to mitigate them.
- Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and technical/functional design specifications to prepare RFP responses with complete and compliant solutions.
- Research emerging technologies in support of security integration solutions.
- Review RFP specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Responsible for checking that the overall design is workable and the components are suitable for the application. Ability to recognize problems outside of scope and effectively address customers or team members.
- Prepare detailed trade scopes of work and backup documentation for review.
- Accurately document all estimation information in a site-specific proposal folder to ensure that the rest of the team has easy access to it.
- Acquire product specs and cut sheets for all relevant equipment and software and identify any items with long lead times.
- Develop complete professional proposals including all required information (schedules, project narratives, organizational charts etc.)
- Effectively manage projects, people, and documentation until job completion, keeping projects on time and on budget.
- Design and configure security access systems (Parking Access Control Systems, EV Charging Stations, CCTV and Intercom Systems) to meet project specifications.
Communication
- Foster open and transparent communication with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
- Ensure all stakeholders are informed of project costs and timeline updates in a timely manner.
- Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of parts and materials.
- Interface with product and distribution partners to obtain full system pricing during estimating process, including all required software modules, devices, and equipment pricing.
- Assist with city permitting if required. Attend regularly scheduled conference calls.
Family
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and procurement, to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, promoting a sense of family within the company.
- Track and assist operations with awarded contracts and projects as required. May include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring materials, facilitating resolution of any contractual issues, etc.
Exceptional Service
- Work closely with the client to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring that our estimates align with their vision.
- Strive to exceed client expectations by delivering quality estimates and service.
- Establish and maintain positive and ethical practices with owners, clients, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Establish relationships with vendors, requesting parts and material quotes, estimating cost, preparing quotations, and following up on purchase orders.
Profitability
- Balance the need to deliver exceptional service with maintaining profitability for the company.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies in the estimation process.
- Evaluate pre-existing site conditions through on-site visits with clients and/or subcontractors to provide an accurate bid.
- Locate reliable & competitive sources for all required components. Evaluate potential suppliers and subcontractors and negotiate best pricing as well as volume discounts.
- Estimate required labor hours for system assembly, wiring, conduit, testing, and implementation.
- Solicit project specific proposals and negotiate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers to evaluate them for completeness and competitiveness.
- Develop options and recommend best value solution based on cost, engineering, quality or availability of materials.
About YOU:
Candidates should be able to clearly articulate bid inclusions, exclusions, and proposals clarifications with clients and subcontractors. You will also have exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities. Other qualifications include the following.
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and work efficiently to prepare proposals and estimates with minimum supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
- Understand mechanical & electrical drawings & wiring diagrams.
- Proficient with MS Office software products: Word/Excel.
- 2 years’ experience minimum working with electronic security systems, access control, video surveillance and intercom systems.
- Detail-oriented. Must have a clear understanding of each project’s requirements and specific needed to achieve delivery of accurate proposals and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment.
- Willingness to work as required to meet deadlines.
- Able to read and understand Plans and Technical Specifications.

Compensation Range: $65,000 - $90,000
