Highly Qualified status as per the State of New Jersey (has associate’s – or higher – degree, completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education, and/or has met a rigorous standard of quality through a formal State assessment)

Responsibilities:
Assist in the monitoring of classroom activities and student learning under the direction of the classroom teacher, principal or other designated personnel.
Promote the achievement of students’ educational goals and learning objectives by providing supplemental and clerical services to assist the classroom teacher.
Responsible for prescribed non-instructional duties, which support classroom operations and student learning with direction from classroom teacher.
Participate in inservice training as assigned.
Assist in providing the emotional and physical well-being of students.
Support student development of academic, cognitive and functional skills.
Support implementation of behavior intervention plans as well as appropriate services as described in the IEP.
Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the classroom teacher, principal or designee.
