The primary purpose of this position is to underwrite new business and renewals in a profitable manner and according to authority level and established guidelines, and participate in special projects having an impact on the business. Assigned larger and more important agents/brokers. Utilize underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges. Understand state laws, including cancellation and non-renewal, within assigned territory to properly transact business within each state. Knowledgeable in coverage forms and policy language; appropriate utilization of forms and exclusions. Assist with resolving premium audit disputes within assigned agents/brokers. Able to provide coaching to others.
- Assigned larger and more important agents/brokers.
- Consistently achieves budgeted financial results (premium, loss ratio, retention, commissions, pricing, new business and expense management) through superior service, renewal retention and responsiveness to new business submissions.
- Considers different approaches towards risks to maximize profitability (e.g., pricing endorsements, limits) .
- Participates on projects having an impact on the business and actively keep knowledge and skills up- to date through courses and seminars where appropriate.
- Catapult Markel’s brand in the Cyber and Technology E&O product line to leading edge, serving as the authority and content expert on technical Cyber and Technology E&O product line issues.
- Open to regular visits to agents 20% willingness to travel to conference and client/ broker visits when required.
What we're looking for:
- 5-10 years current Cyber and Technology E&O Underwriting expertise with Fortune 500 clients.
- Extensive progressive Cyber and Technology E&O Underwriting expertise, marketing, and sales acumen and executive leadership Cyber and Technology E&O risk management.
- Desire and ability to enhance Markel’s position in the US Cyber and Technology E&S marketplace through external engagement and communication.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate while developing positive broker relationships.
- Proven expertise in working in a matrixed environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills that contribute to product line clarity.
