Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. As the Senior Associate Director, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable expanding and executing the university's technology strategy. You will be an active member of the Computing and Communication Services team and will work closely with the Chief Information Technical Officer and other senior executives to formulate cohesive operational approaches to integrate throughout the university. Additionally, the role will be providing leadership and guidance to their dynamic team of IT Professionals to drive innovation efficiency and effectiveness across all aspects of the technological infrastructure and systems for ESU. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your information technology leadership experience and proven technical expertise across various IT domains while collaborating with a diverse community to technologically foster a nurturing and positive environment for the campus. To be successful in this role the applicant must possess excellent organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, the role requires the applicant to have demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Senior Associate Director. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.
What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)
Strategic Leadership:
- Collaborate with the CITO to develop and implement theuniversity’s IT strategy, aligning technology initiatives with organizationalgoals.
- Provide strategic guidance and vision for the ITdepartment, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and emergingtechnologies.
- Drive innovation by identifying opportunities toleverage technology for competitive advantage and operational efficiency.

Operational Management:
- Oversee the department's day-to-day operations in academic computing, audiovisual, support services, and telecommunications, including infrastructure management, application development, and support services.
- Consult with faculty members and participate on academic committees (concerning computing in higher education) to investigate computing systems and services, reporting findings to the CITO.
- Supervise and perform system analysis, development, and functional design for academic system projects as directed by the CITO.
- Coordinate project development, recommend allocating academic computer resources, and ensure adherence to project schedules.
- Maintain contact with technology equipment manufacturers and software vendors to ensure that current state-of-the-art equipment and techniques are available and utilized to further the university's goals.
- Deployment, support, and maintenance of the PBX system, including network connectivity, telephone gateways, IP phones, and analog and digital phones. Provide management supervision over voicemail, call center, and emergency phone maintenance.
- Provide management supervision of ESU’s System Administrator of student services, including student, staff and faculty email, student, Staff and Faculty active directory, and ESU’s website.
- Supervision of Instructional Resources Department.
- Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance, security, and reliability.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of IT operations and drive continuous improvement.

Team Leadership and Development:
- Build and mentor a high-performing team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Provide leadership and guidance to IT staff, promoting skill development, career growth, and employee engagement.
- Foster a diverse, inclusive workplace that values creativity, integrity, and excellence.

Technology Architecture and Infrastructure:
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, reliable, and secure technology infrastructure and systems.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and trends, recommending strategic investments to enhance business capabilities.
- Ensure the integration and interoperability of IT systems to support seamless business operations and processes.

Risk Management and Compliance:
- Collaborate with the Information Security Officer and compliance teams to address regulatory requirements and data privacy concerns.

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degreein Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Proven experience(10 years) in a senior leadership role within an IT organization, with a trackrecord of driving strategic initiatives and delivering educational value.
- Strong technicalexpertise across various IT domains, including infrastructure, applications,cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
- Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engagewith stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience in Higher Education,including knowledge of ERP and software programs such as Banner and Argos.
- Project and portfolio management.
- Proficient with IT policies,procedures, standards, and guidelines.
- Knowledge of IT best practices and frameworks (e.g., ITIL, NIST, ISO/IEC) preferred.
- Successful implementation experience with Lean Six Sigma preferred.
- Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
- Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
