JOB DUTIES
Maintains compliance with all laws. Assist in developing policies and procedures that facilitate compliance and program implementation. Ensure the facility meets all standards and compliance with federal regulations related to Emergency Management, such as The Joint Commission (TJC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulations and standards. Also ensure that the facility meets the Emergency Management criteria required by the hospital accreditation body (e.g., TJC, DNV-GL). Performs Hazard and Security Vulnerability Assessments and makes recommendations. Maintains MMC’s disaster preparedness software and equipment to include mass notification, Protect Advisr, Juvare, WebEOC and Lynx systems. Provides analysis and reporting and makes recommendations regarding operational changes. Provide warnings and emergency data to the organization, and operations and technical support to leadership before, during, and after emergencies. Maintains effective working relationship with local agencies. This position will report directly to the Director of Campus Safety and Emergency Management.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
High School diploma or equivalent. Five years of experience in healthcare-related field to include emergency preparedness, safety and/or regulatory compliance. Progressive leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of common technical applications, such as Microsoft Office products, preferred. Clinical experience as pre-hospital or hospital clinician encouraged, not required. Prior experience in program coordination. Analytical skills necessary in order to evaluate and make recommendations regarding emergency management issues. Familiarity with healthcare emergency preparedness, including security, safety, HAZMAT, OSHA, NIMS, HICS, HVA, CMS, and hospital accreditation body (e.g., TJC, DNV-GL) related criteria. Familiarity with Hospital Preparedness Program capabilities and understand healthcare coalition activities/ regional response activities.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation - certification required within 30 days of hire. Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, Act 73. Certification in Emergency Management/ Preparedness. Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, and 800 within 1 year from date of hire. Valid Driver's License.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Patient care/hospital environment. A large part of work time is standing or walking. Subject to certain distasteful patient care activities and exposure to communicable diseases. May be exposed to potential hazards such as physical contact with patients, chemicals, body wastes, fluids and other possible infectious material.
