Job Description

The automation engineer is responsible for day-to-day operations support activities including problem solving, develop short and long-term solutions for automation problems, validating computer equipment, maintaining current systems in a GMP state and creating/maintaining standard operating procedures for the systems.

The automation engineer will be responsible for daily operations support activities, in a GMP environment, including but not limited to the following technologies: 

• Responsible and accountable for supporting all automation system components of the processes including on the shop floor support of manufacturing activities

• Responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and closing out change controls for automation related corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Stay current with latest automation technologies and trends and make recommendations for adoption

• Work independently and as a team member with Integrity | Precision | Accomplishment | Motivational Ambition | Respect | Inclusion

• Comply with Global Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, regulatory requirements and execute current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in the performance of day-to-day activities and all applicable job functions.

• Provide automation system support and expertise to assist the manufacture of quality vaccine products to meet site priorities.

• Build relationships with functional counterparts and stakeholders in the business to proactively. identify and resolve technical issues.

• Lead or participate in investigations of automation incidents and problems to prevent recurrence including the development and implementation of corrective actions.

• Provide off-site weekend/evening automation phone or on-site support for our 24/7 manufacturing operations.

Education Minimum Requirement:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Required Skills and Experience

• 2 year's experience in process automation or equivalent.

• Knowledge of computer system validation and regulatory GXP requirements.

• Understanding of S88 Batch Standard

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interface effectively with all levels of colleagues in a team environment, and with external parties.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience in pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry.

• Aseptic processing/sterile manufacturing experience.  

• Technical and operational expertise in the following disciplines DeltaV DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, network infrastructure, SQL, etc.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.  This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely.
