Position Specific Description
The expansion of the transmission system will pave the way for a carbon-free future that allows renewables to be implemented in resource optimal locations and transported to load centers. In order to achieve this goal, significant amounts of new transmission infrastructure will need to be built. NextEra Energy Transmission (NEET) is the leading competitive transmission developer in the US and Canada to develop transmission solutions that enable this future.
The Director, Origination is responsible for leading the origination of new and enhanced transmission projects. This position will engage in relevant regulatory and stakeholder processes at the CEC, CPUC, and CAISO, collaborating with NEET's partners, and working with NEET's Development Team to originate new transmission opportunities in the CAISO and WECC region.
Other responsibilities to include:
- Driving early stage aspects of project life-cycle, including need/solution identification, financial feasibility analysis, and regulatory engagement to originate new transmission opportunities NEET can pursue.
- Supporting due diligence of potential partnerships and M&A opportunities in CAISO and WECC.
Location: Remote. Preferrably California (San Francisco/San Diego area) or West Coast based.

- Translates company financial, commercial, risk management, technical and operating goals into effective contracting strategies and objectives
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external strategic partners
- Assembles and leads internal cross functional, multi-disciplined teams through the solicitation and negotiation processes
- Provides overall leadership and drive key decisions during negotiations
- Delivers on contracting objectives and proforma requirements
- Delivers contracts that position the internal project execution team for maximum success
- Manages the contracting budget and schedule for assigned projects
- Provides periodic updates to and interact with senior management
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

The base pay for this position is $172,000.00 to $258,000.00 per year. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
