Clinical Psychologist – Behavioral Health Optimization Program (BHOP)

General Description:
Clinical Psychologist is required to function in a patient-centered medical home (PCMH) location as a full-time equivalent provider as an internal behavioral health consultant (IBHC) and/or Behavioral Health Care Facilitator (BHCF) as outlined in DoDI 6490.15 Integration of Behavioral Health Personnel Services Into Patience-Centered Medical Home Primary Care and Other Primacy Care Service Settings and the BHOP Practice Manual.
Specific Tasks:
Clinical Psychologist
• You shall participate in and successfully completes Air Force care facilitator training. Demonstrates core competency skills to CF independent practice within 240 days of starting. The 240-day threshold for demonstration of core competency skills will be extended if the Air Force is unable to provide training opportunities within 240 days.
• Care facilitator training is an interactive computer-based training that is approximately three days in length. You must complete all CF training requirements before engaging in CF patient care services.
• You shall contact referred patients to assess medication treatment adherence for depression, anxiety, and PTSD disorders.
• You shall use validated brief symptom inventories to assess current symptom severity.
• You shall assess barriers to treatment adherence and help patient problem-solve solutions to barriers.
• You shall provide patients with education regarding their behavioral health condition and treatment regimen.
• You shall maintain patient information in a patient registry.
• You shall maintain accurate and current notes in the electronic medical records of all patients contacted for review by the managing physician.
• You shall perform case management functions.
Experience:
Clinical Psychologist
• You must have at least one year of experience within a three-year period.
• You must have experience in the evaluation and treatment of patients who have pain, psychological factors affecting their physical condition, or difficulty coping with medical problems.
• You must have a minimum of one-year experience as a licensed clinical psychologist.
Knowledge:
Clinical Psychologist
• You must have at least 12 months of direct hands-on experience in the last 24 months with computer operations, basic word processing, data entry, and use of an automated medical record system.
Education:
Clinical Psychologist
• You must possess a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited psychology program or a program acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, USAF.
• You must complete an APA-accredited internship/residency in professional psychology or an internship/residency acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Air Force.
Licensure:
Clinical Psychologist
• You must have and maintain a current license to practice psychology in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Job Requirements:
- Provide psychological assessments and treatment
- Provide appropriate psychological therapy for patient
- Conduct psychological evaluations, mental health treatment, clinical supervision and consultation
- Provide psychological testing and diagnostic assessments
- Referred for a psychological evaluation
- Assess psychological programs, services
- Provide supervision to psychological associates
- Facilitating family therapy and individual therapy
- Administer all necessary psychological testing
- Act as a psychological profiler
- Providing Individual counseling/psychotherapy, group psychotherapy-psychoeducation-skills training, psychological assessment, behavioral management consultation
- Assess psychological state and use psychodiagnostic evaluations and psychotherapy
- Provide local and remote psychological services
- Provide psychological services via tele health
- Support the provision of psychological services
- Conduct psychological evaluations including intellectual and personality assessment and neuropsychological screenings
- Treat psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments
- Offering a full range of psychological services
- Provide psychological services to students that include (but are not limited to) individual therapy, group therapy, emergency/crisis intervention, psychological assessment, treatment planning
- Conduct intake assessments, conduct psychological assessments and provide crisis management
