Role and Responsibilities
The Senior Director of Channel Operations leads a team with the responsibility for the planning, implementation and ongoing management of Samsung’s portfolio presence across US retail. This includes how the Samsung brand appears in-store, how the indirect sales teams in retail advocate and represent our products and services, and how we maximize our partnerships with US retailers to achieve sellout goals, and drive success and growth.
This leader will work closely with internal stakeholders, as well as retail channel partners to drive brand preference and conversion across 5,500 stores in the US. Responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the LOB Channel Operations team within the Retail Division, including fulfillment, maintenance and upkeep, budget, reporting and schedule review. Accountable to both manage and lead change and improvement, and develop a high performing team aligned to the highest standards of planning and execution.
Reports to the SVP, SEA Retail Division, based at our Ridgefield Park, N.J. Headquarters.
Position Objective
- Gain leadership alignment and execute SEA Retail GTM plans within channel partner’s retail stores. Plans will include a variety of initiatives including merchandising, experiential retail, Sales Associate training, sales programs, and engagement.
- Support all product launches and promotional activities, including ONE Launch, and key drive times
- Bring bold and innovative thinking to continuously improve Samsung brand experiences, consumer product engagement, and rep knowledge in the retail environment
- Lead Samsung placement planning to optimize sales for each LOB product category across retail locations
- Uphold Samsung brand standards as you prepare retail merchandising and display plans based on HE category priorities as well as shopper, consumer and retail insights
- Digital content implementation (on device + digital in-store signage)
- Outline the channel training strategy, work with cross-functional partners to develop training plan and field team (MSMs) to execute HE retail training initiatives
- Partners with 3rd Party Labor agencies and field leaders (MSMs) to leverage brand /product campaigns and insights at retail, to provide merchandising implementation and agency management
- Synthesize insights from qualitative and quantitative data points, compare data vs. KPIs and identify optimization opportunities for future launch improvements
- Evangelizing the Samsung LOB vision and mission
- Lead a visible and a high-performing Channel Operations team
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years of retail leadership experience, preferably in CE and other fast-moving categories
- Experience in customer experience design, development, and visibility and knowledge of retail tech
- Strong leader with strategic business management skills, who can appropriately shift between tactical and strategic perspectives
- Will need to be results-oriented, seek empowerment, inquisitive, comfortable with ambiguity, and possess versatile communication styles
- Ability to manage and develop teams, work cooperatively with internal business partners locally and globally, and customers; sharing ideas and developing effective solutions in line with brand plans and company mission
- Ability to influence, lead, motivate, and direct the activities cross-functional resources and support groups to attain objectives, establish project schedules, and execute within specified timeline
- Approximately 25% travel expected
