How will you make an impact?
Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, Operations and Construction personnel, the Maintenance Technician performs skilled journey-level air conditioning and heating work in the construction, installation, trouble shooting, repair alteration and maintenance of a variety of air conditioning and heating systems. Provides hands-on maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of all Central Plant related equipment and pneumatic and direct digital controls. Performs other semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, repair and construction tasks in the upkeep of facilities.? Performs other related duties as assigned.?
What will you do?
Essential Duties:?
Maintains current knowledge and is responsible for understanding and applying codes and regulations pertaining to area of expertise.?
Monitors and documents the operation and maintenance of all HVAC-related equipment installed at the Central Plant and other site equipment and systems.?
Lays out, assembles, installs, tests, maintains, trouble shoots and repairs district building’s air conditioning and heating systems and related equipment.?
Installs, maintains, and repairs a wide variety of air conditioning and heating systems, from mini-split systems to chillers, pumps, air handling units, fan coils, exhaust fans, dampers, ducts, piping, controls and all other conditioned air system components.?
Provide assistance with maintenance and repairs of lab equipment systems such as-? Laboratory refrigerators and freezers, environmental chambers.?
Install, trouble shoots and repairs air conditioning and heating controls and thermostats.?
Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots a campus-wide, computer-based Energy Management System as needed.?
Develops and assists in maintenance of other systems such as humidification systems, water systems, compressed air systems, vacuum systems, and other systems as they are added to site systems or clean rooms.?
Responsible for conducting required water treatment of HVAC equipment.?
Develops, prepares and maintains daily operation logs for all HVAC equipment.?
Manages EPA certification for the handling and management of refrigerants.?
Performs semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, trouble shooting and construction work in the basic building maintenance trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, locksmithing, welding, carpet and tile, metalsmithing and pool maintenance.?
Operates equipment such as light trucks, forklifts, and other related motorized equipment.?
Performs other related duties as assigned.?
How will you get here?
High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in the air conditioning and heating trade or 2 year HVAC degree preferred.
4-6 years of full-time experience to include hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of a central plant.?
Experience as a building maintenance mechanic or as a skilled worker in one or more building maintenance trades.
Experience with energy management systems and refrigeration equipment.?
Position requires knowledge of:?
Package units, Gas Packs, Pumps and water treatment systems.?
Heat recovery and energy storage systems.?
Basic desktop computing.?
Electrical and plumbing systems.?

Skillfully use a variety of tools and equipment utilized in one or more of the basic maintenance trades.?
Perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the basic building maintenance trades.?
Accurately interpret codes, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to a variety of building maintenance tasks.?
Use hand and machine tools of the trade.?
Knowledge of and experience using MAXIMO CMMS software??
Knowledge and experience with GMP Environments??
Work from blue prints, shop drawings and sketches.?
Maintain simple records and prepare reports.?
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.?
