Job Summary
CLASS TITLE: MECHANIC
RANGE: 38
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation and/or the Transportation Supervisor perform a variety of journey-level mechanical repair work on heavy diesel automotive and other mechanical equipment; perform regular inspections on buses.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years of journey-level experience in the repair of light and heavy gasoline and diesel automotive equipment.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Class B driver's license with passenger and air brake endorsement.
Incumbents are subject to a pre-employment drug test and mandatory random drug tests during employment required by federal law.
