EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS AND FOR FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.
NOTE: Selective certification of eligibles with current and extensive experience indicating a thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures unique to Environmental Affairs will be used in filling this vacancy.

Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform services specific to a department, which may range from accounting and office management to technical assistance, program planning and/or management. Employees in this classification perform professional work. Position is responsible for writing reports, performing research, assisting upper level staff, responding to citizen concerns, assisting with technical reports, and assisting on special projects. Performs related work as required.
For the current vacancy, the purpose of this position is to perform services specific to the Department of Environmental Affairs, including administrative, clerical and technical assistance, assistance with program operation and monitoring, and contract management. This position is responsible for providing program support including file and data management, correspondence with various departments, government agencies, and service contractors, and drafting program documents including correspondence, reports, and educational materials and presentations. Serve as the Department’s Adjudication Clerk, performing all duties involved in managing case files for enforcement of the JP Code of Ordinances to be heard by the Bureau of Administrative Adjudication. Provide assistance to the Solid Waste and Recycling Program Managers in performing research, developing and administering programs and performing related field work and public education tasks. Assist Departmental upper-level staff in responding to citizen concerns and assisting on special projects. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.
Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination
Meets one of the following qualifications:
I. Current employment with Jefferson Parish and permanent civil service status in the class of Environmental Inspector, with considerable (approx. three years) experience working in the J.P. Department of Environmental Affairs.
OR
II. Possession of an accredited Bachelor's degree in a life/physical sciences field of study or in a field related to Environmental Sustainability.
Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing.
