JOB SUMMARY:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating various size of forklifts moving material and products throughout the plant, loading, and unloading trucks, both receiving and shipping. Also responsible for maintaining an organized and efficient facility and yard.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Observe all safety guidelines and protocol
- Maintain certification to operate forklifts (up to 5,000 pounds) and operate at maximum efficiency levels
- Load and unload materials, ensure materials are staged for counting/inspection and that receiving reports are accurate
- Ensure materials and products are properly stored to conserve space and comply with safety procedures.
- Responsible for pulling products and ship direct to customers, ensuring that quantities parts and packaging are correct.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and clearly marked inventory
- Properly load products to maintain weight distribution and balance on outbound delivery trucks.
- Verify correct productions and materials against bill of lading or other documentation
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and serviced, and perform daily pre-shift inspections; ensure preventative maintenance and repairs are completed
- Clean and maintain all responsible work areas in an organized manner
- Coordinate truck drivers throughout the yard
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, & LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 - 5 years forklift operation experience required.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
- Additional mobile equipment operator experience is a plus.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to exert up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
