Provides project support to drive significant breakthroughs within Perioperative Services. Responsible for independent acting in project oversight, systems design and implementation of special projects. Uses Six Sigma, LEAN, change management and acceleration (e.g. CAP, Workout), and other available performance improvement methodologies to achieve these goals. Utilizes available databases to provide financial and operational recommendations and assess the impact of acceptable clinical options. Integrates project methodologies into processes in collaboration with external vendors and customers. 1.3 Assists with the application of research strategies in identifying, monitoring and evaluating opportunities to improve patient care. 1.4 Networks with other quality and operational improvement professionals to keep abreast of changes in quality and/or operational management field, to benchmark with other organizations, and to gain access to new ideas outside the organizations. 1.5 Supports the facilitation of implementation and evaluation of evidence-based practice in Perioperative Services. 1.6 Collaborates with Perioperative Executive Team necessary changes in the governance, managerial, support and clinical processes that affect outcomes across Perioperative Services. 1.7 Designs and utilizes dashboards and reports (both at Executive and Team Levels) to monitor key critical to quality measurements and operational goals. 1.7.1 Drives utilization of dashboards by all team members. 1.7.2 Assures real time and digital access to dashboards. 1.7.3 Provides seamless clinical and financial data in a useable format allowing for the identification, analysis and evaluation of alternative strategies as solutions of business and operational issues requiring management attention 1.7.4 Uses data to continually model volume, revenue, expense, demographic and payer mix, and clinical process changes and their departmental and institutional impact. 1.7.5 Develops analyses that meet users' needs and support YNHH business plan relating to Perioperative Services. 1.8 Researches resources required to successfully execute projects. 1.8.1 Proposes process technology improvements to successful completion using quality methodologies in both individual and cross -functional team settings. 1.8.2 Drives measurable and sustainable improvement within the Perioperative Services to eliminate defects. 1.9 Supports standardization and improves process execution. 1.9.1 Where differentiation is required, utilizes process improvement to ensure all unique processes are executed. 2. Operational Support: Participates in departmental task forces and committees to provide operational input. 2.1 Provides key financial, operational and clinical data highlighting business and operational issues requiring management attention and resources. 2.2 Makes quality-focused recommendations relative to the operational management of Perioperative Services. 2.3 Promotes consistency of practice within and across Perioperative Services. Uses clinical knowledge and skill in database analysis to identify opportunities to positively influence practice. 2.4 Promotes professional accountability for clinical practice improvements. Leads, influences and motivates groups within Perioperative Services to critically examine practice. 2.5 Provides a wide variety of administrative and financial support to the Perioperative Services Executive Team necessary for the operation of Perioperative Services i.e. staff scheduling, charge capture documentation tracking, etc. 3. Regulatory Readiness Support: Serves as a resource by providing knowledge of regulatory standards and accrediting process (i.e. TJC, Leapfrog, DPH). Participates in regulatory activities within Perioperative Services. 4. Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications EDUCATION Bachelors degree with experience working in a health or health related environment. Master's degree in public health, business, public administration, health policy, or healthcare management preferred. EXPERIENCE Two to Three years experience with demonstrated leadership experience and performance and process improvement experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented, highly iterative, and collaborative environment. Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships with a broad range of internal and external constituents. Experience with healthcare research preferred. LICENSURE N/A SPECIAL SKILLS Knowledge and experience of CAP, Workout, Six Sigma, and LEAN is preferred. Proven analytical / problem-solving skills. Outstanding communication, presentation and facilitation skills. Strong computer skills (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint and Minitab). Demonstrated ability to successfully lead process change. PHYSICAL DEMAND Ability to travel to sites to support community health activities. Additional Information Bachelors required, Master's in health, business or public administration preferred. Strong understanding of project processes and performance and/or process improvement. Previous experience with scheduling. Experience in a perioperative setting preferred.
