Lead Projection Technician reports to David Geffen School of Drama/Yale Repertory Theatre (DGSD/YRT) Projection Supervisor, and/or a graduate student Projection Engineer. Exercises a high degree of autonomy and discretion while maintaining high standards of implementation, efficiency, safety, and respect in all DGSD/YRT productions. Calm and collected under pressure with a strongly demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and follow schedules and instructions. Demonstrated ability to guide, advise, mentor, and lead students and staff in a professional setting. 1. Participates in load-in, notes sessions, technical rehearsals, and strike of productions. 2. Creates, interprets, and executes projection production paperwork. 3. Collaborates with and advises Projection Designers and Engineers to obtain the necessary information to execute Projection designs. 4. Serves as the Projection Engineer for productions, outside organizations or special events using the theatre’s venues as assigned. 5. Substitute for projection programmer or operator as assigned. 6. Oversees and participates in the maintenance and repair of projection department facilities, tools, and equipment. Manages documentation of repairs and service of projection equipment. 7. Assists in providing continuity in the use of projection equipment among all performance venues. 8. Facilitates purchase or rental of equipment and materials and assist in maintenance of projection department financial paperwork. 9. Assists in maintaining the safety, organization, cleanliness, and efficiency of all projection department storage and workspaces.10. Trains crew in operation of projection software and equipment. Supervises appropriate personnel. 11. Participates in creation and implementation of overhead rigging for projection equipment. 12. Uses a variety of complex tools, processes, materials, and equipment in completing assigned projects. 13. Serves as camera operator and editor for archival filming of productions. 14. Attends appropriate meetings. 15. Transports equipment. 16. Assists other departments in load-in, notes sessions, technical rehearsals, and strike of productions, as assigned. 17. Works occasional nights, weekends and holidays. 18. May perform other duties as assigned. Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate’s degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
