Core Fellows form the nucleus of the permanent teaching faculty dedicated to the undergraduate Core Curriculum, which operates alongside the Center for Irish Studies as a distinct department in the Division of Core and Centers for Excellence.

Applicants should be qualified to teach courses in Irish history and other types of European and world history. They should provide evidence of a scholarly agenda directly related to their teaching specializations. Applicants should also share the Core's commitment to a classical liberal arts education in the Catholic tradition, embracing the thoughts of St. John Henry Newman and Josef Pieper.
A record of teaching excellence is required. A background in the liberal arts or great books is highly desirable for prospective Core Fellows. Good teaching must be informed by ongoing independent scholarship and a serious research agenda. A conferred Ph.D. in History or related fields is required by the contract start date of August 1, 2025.
