Job Summary
Under general direction of the designated administrator, assists in the development and implementation of drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention education programs to decrease the occurrence of student smoking and substance abuse; coordinates communications, information and personnel to enhance the effectiveness of District substance abuse prevention programs; provides support groups for at risk students and parents; makes referrals to outside agencies for needed additional services; maintains confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent GED supplemented by twelve (12) semester units of college-level course work from an accredited college or university in substance abuse prevention, psychology, sociology or related field.
Experience: Three (3) years experience in a health service, social service or similar environment and five (5) experience in substance abuse treatment working with individuals, groups and families involved in-patient or outpatient substance abuse.
Special License, certification or other requirements:
Valid Substance Abuse Counseling certificate issued by an authorized agency
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License and use of private or alternative means of transportation is required
Proof of automobile insurance is required
