The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for a College and Career Academies Specialist. This position is assigned to a 522 (261 work days) schedule. This is a Non-Union position under the School Employees Retirement Services (SERS) retirement system.
Salary Range: $91,187.74 - $110,338.98 (Salary rate as of 07/01/2024)

Position Summary: The position of College and Career Academies Specialist is responsible for assisting with the planning, implementation and advancement of college & career programming across the district. The position assists with implementation of professional development programs for staff, curriculum implementation and provides assistance and support to all district schools according to federal, state and local guidelines and regulations.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.
Assists with development and implementation of training and staff development programs to support instructional activities related to the College and Career Academies programming.
Participate in the development of course curriculum and graded courses of study utilizing the appropriate standards as defined by the Ohio Department of Education.
Assists with development and implementation of College and Career Academies work-force development pathways, Quality Program Standards (QPS) goals and action plans.
Assist with development and implementation of strategies to maximize the use of technology in the teaching and learning processes.
Assist with the identification and development of performance metrics and/or evaluation for instructional content training programs.
Collaborate with District content supervisors and instructional leadership in order to design, develop and implement effective training and staff development activities.
Assists with collaboration with outside organizations to provide continuing education partnerships to provide learning opportunities for district personnel.
Obtain feedback from building leadership regarding assessment of ongoing training needs and align programs to meet identified needs.
Compile, analyze and report data as assigned.
Collaborates and supports the district initiatives regarding curriculum and instruction.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Reports to the Director of College and Career Academies.
Budget:
Provide documentation and reporting as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
Five or more years’ experience working in an educational-based setting.
A valid Ohio Driver’s License.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently without direct monitoring and supervision.
Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Education or related field.
Familiarity with College and Career Academy model
Prior experience with instructional coaching or similar role.
Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent district wide travel and occasional prolonged and irregular hours. May be required to transport students using District vehicles.
Subject to frequent interruptions, noises, odors, temperatures throughout work day.
Sits, stands and moves intermittently throughout work day.
