Team Lead, Formulation Manufacturing

Location/Division Specific Information
The Team Lead is a key leader in the Operations department at the Sunnyvale, California site. The department is part of the Ion Chromatography and Sample Preparation business unit but supports several other business units within the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry division.
How will you make an impact?
The Team Lead manages a small team within the Chromatography Consumables manufacturing area and has responsibility for providing direct line support for manufacturing staff, ensuring reliable processes, formulations and analytical methods are being followed.
In operations department, we work closely with regulatory affairs, quality assurance, other manufacturing plants and engineering to develop and implement strategies for improving existing and new products and processes.
What will you do?
- Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring time and attendance, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; encourages cross-training of employees in other areas across the manufacturing floor; develops personal growth opportunities.
- Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending actions.
- Ensure safety is a top priority with active measures in place, assist in inspections and promote workplace safety. Maintain safe and clean work environment by coaching team members on the use of equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Ensure full adherence to 5S practices.
- Ensure achievement of production goals against stated capacity targets.
- Develop reporting procedures and systems; facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points; ability to Process change orders, ECO, DCO, deviations and non-conformances reports.
- Initiating and fostering a spirit of collaboration within and between departments.
- Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities, daily targets, and responsibilities to the team; supervising progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
- Effectively use prioritization mechanisms to apply resources to complete the work on hand and/or raise issues to leadership so that resource needs can be addressed.
- Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques and follow-up status of ME tickets.
- Manage key performance indicators for projects in area of responsibility that lead change and insight to the team and leadership.
- Provide feedback, ideas and suggestions to new and/or improved lab techniques, protocols, processes, special handling of the product and equipment.
- Continuously strive to improve output goals. Demonstrate good time management resulting in efficiency. Support cost improvement initiatives by reducing failures, improving capacity and using supplies wisely. Reduce work in process, queues and cycle times.
How will you get here?
- Associate degree in a business or technical field from certified institution or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of chemical or device manufacturing experience with minimum of 2 years’ experience leading teams through projects and/or against established goals.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Proven ability to track status and adjust resources to meet the needs of a multi-product manufacturing team.
- Driven and self-motivated.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and apply data, metrics, and continuous improvement tools to consistently achieve organizational objectives.
- Maintain a good level of communication at all levels.
- Reasonable understanding of digital literacy including Microsoft office and ERP systems.
Physical/Environmental requirements:
- Constant Physical requirements:
Siting, Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, motions, and keyboarding. Visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines, using measurement devices.
- Occasional Physical requirements:
Climbing, squatting, and crawling twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, pinching, neck rotations. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to machinery, sharp and moving parts, electrical and other energy sources.
Work Hours
This position is Monday- Friday, day shift.
Overtime and weekend work will be required as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $72,000.00–$100,000.00.
