Role Summary
Automation and Controls Project Manager will administer an automation program for a fully automated warehouse system by ensuring contractual obligations are completed to the statement of work, tracking system availability, and researching root causes for downtime. Further, this role will partner with/ IE, Facilities Leaders, and Site Directors for the installation, repair, and project management of the Building Automation System, Conveyance, Sortation, PLC, FSCs, and HLC systems. The Role will spearhead all MHE issues tracking utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System. This role will support new initiatives and Plan and execute the budget for automation projects, PLC code fixes, Capex Automation enhancements, and brownfield capital projects.
A successful candidate will have experience managing and negotiating contracted services. Experience engaging and partnering within all technical teams, interacting with an operational team, and working closely with technology stakeholders. A background in automated manufacturing, distribution, Sortation, ASRS, and/or conveyance is required. Experience in PLC, Allen Bradley, Siemens Step 7, and Beckhoff PLCs is a must.
Role Responsibilities
This role can sit on-site at either our Kansas City, KS or Gap, PA locations.
Third Party adherence with PLC vendors. Work to identify code corrections and/or new initiatives to support aging sites.
Manage peak planning and execution for all automation projects, including automation plans by third-party providers and site readiness for automation infrastructure.
Track, audit, and report the performance of all Automation, including system uptime, rates of production by process path, and expenses within the CMMS program.
Participate and Partnership with/ Ops, IE, and 3rd party vendors regarding Risk Engineering Improvements.
Engage with/ NA Ops Supervisors, Managers, and Director for North American FC- Alignment.
Inventory and validate spare part availability for the Machine Control Devices
Track and manage site automation expenses to budget. Capital Expense and Operational Expense
Develop training and development plans for PLC and HLC for all Tech 3s and Supervisors.
Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review work for the System Automation utilizing UO- CMMs.
Participate in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures; participate in the implementation of approved policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
Participate in the preparation and administration of the capital budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures for controls projects; prepare cost estimates; submit justifications for equipment; automation enhancements and project manage automation rollouts as needed.
Monitor and control automation equipment; partner with Facilities Leaders for documentation / file coordination and critical parts availability.
Develop preventative maintenance initiatives for all PLC, IPC, FSC and HLC equipment across the network.
Coordinate automation special projects.
Assist in the preparation of various contracts, requests for proposals, and reports to support PLCs, IPCs, FSCs and HLCs.
Enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices
Be available for emergency callbacks and flexible toward the daily start schedule and overtime requirements, including holidays and facility shutdowns.
Role Qualifications
Proven track record managing third-party/contracted services.
3+ years of contract administration
5+ of Project Management
PLC / HLC and FSC Code Experience.
Minimum H.S. diploma or equivalent; relevant college or secondary training a plus.
Ability to interpret and understand automation manuals and controls equipment schematics.
Knowledge and experience in industrial electrical and equipment mechanics and electrical.
Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of team development.
