As our Automation Controls Technician, you will be responsible for providing high end, complex and effective automation and controls support to plant operations.
Additionally, the Automation Controls Technician must identify, troubleshoot, and repair issues in 24VDC, 120VAC, and 480VAC electrical systems as well as perform new electrical installations. Possess knowledge in the following areas; electrical, automation, process instrumentation, PLC, HMI, and VFD’s. We’re looking for a candidate with manufacturing experience that has a passion for details and ensure quality work and products
Key Responsibilities and Position-Related Duties
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the operation, capabilities, & limitations of complex controls/instrumentation.
- Skilled in troubleshooting controls and instrumentation problems on production and process equipment.
- Act as a resource for mechanics in identification and correction of potential equipment problems.
- Troubleshooting and maintaining production lines and/or batching/processing equipment.
- Reads / translates the information found in PLC code, wiring schematics, ladder, and P&ID process diagrams.
- Understands PLC, HMI, VFD’s, servo, sensors, instrumentation, and industrial control systems including advanced programming techniques and configurations.
- Troubleshoots industrial networks including but not limited to Ethernet/IP, DH+, DeviceNet, RIO.
- Observe and test the operation of systems and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters, process meters, network analyzers and other testing devices.
- Continuously maintains proficiency in Automation and controls systems.
- Possesses an understanding of calibration procedures for process instruments that measure temperature, pressure, flow, and level; along with an understanding of process controls and troubleshooting.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in the execution of the work schedule. Ensures the area is maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion.
- Work directly with cross-departmental personnel and management to problem-solve to ensure maximum production efficiencies.
- Comply with all standard safety practices, safety rules, and all Company rules and policies.
- Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment including immediately correcting or reporting safety issues to your supervisor.
- Read, understand and comply with standard operating procedures and Safety Data Sheets.
- Use computer and associated software to troubleshoot and correct equipment issues.
- Identify and assist in the implementation of projects as required.
Qualifications and Additional Requirements
- Must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent (Bachelor's preferred)
- Must achieve a passing score on the Maintenance Automation Technician test
- Must have a Minimum 3 years (5 years preferred) of hands on Allen Bradley (PLC 5, SLC 500, RS Logix 5000) experience / Controls Integration in a manufacturing environment, and a maintenance background which includes HMI’s, Servos, VFD’s, electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics is required
- Maintenance experience, include hydraulics, controls, electrical, mechanical, welding, electrical, PLC’s, and pneumatics.
- Ability to troubleshoot maintenance-related problems, read diagrams, blueprints and schematics.
- Must be certified on the training plan for this position within 180 days of start date.
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to work on multiple levels, such as catwalks, ladders, as well as the ability to work in extreme temperatures is required
- Must supply own tools per the Maintenance required tool list
- Ideal candidate will possess working knowledge of data network, switches, routers and servers
- Must be able to work flexible shift schedules up to 12-hour shifts as determined by business need
- Must be able to use a computer and associated software programs
- Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under stressful situations

$84,988 - $114,983
