A.POSITION PURPOSE
The Director of Mission Engagement (DME) is charged with creating enduring structures, programs and networks in academic and non-academic units to support the understanding of and engagement with SCU’s Jesuit, Catholic mission. The DMI, under the direction of the Director of Ignatian Formation and the Bannan Forum (DIFBF), creates, directs and implements plans and programs for outreach to academic and staff units across campus. The DME will also work with faculty, staff and administrators to engage with SCU’s mission, and will provide resources, training and other necessary facilitation to help them achieve their mission programming. This includes maintaining partnerships with key units (for example Human Resources, University Marketing and Communication, the Jesuit Community, and others) and developing new partnerships. This position, in coordination with the DIFBF, will also support projects led by the Vice President for Mission and Ministry. This position will coordinate extensively with other staff members at the Ignatian Center, including the Director of Ignatian Spirituality, as well as with the Director of Campus Ministry as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and oversees mission-related programming with faculty, staff and administrators, in partnership with the DIFBF.
Provides resources, training and other necessary facilitation for mission programming on campus.
Develops and oversees programs and efforts to support participants in Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) initiatives.
Supports and collaborates with DIFBF and the Director of Ignatian Spirituality on mission-related programming.
Oversees Division and ICJE assessment activities related to the mission engagement program portfolio and broader areas as needed.
Oversees all operational and financial aspects related to the portfolio. Contributes to the broader work of the Division.
Executes other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develops and oversees mission-related programming with faculty, staff, and administrators, in partnership with the DIFBF.
Develops an outreach plan for collaboration with faculty, staff and administrators to identify structural needs for mission engagement .
Prioritizes mission engagement opportunities for each stakeholder group and plans programming to meet needs.
Manages and coordinates annual Mission Week activities, including developing programmatic partnerships and enhancing visibility across stakeholders; close cooperation with the division Director of Communication and Marketing will be expected.
Develops a communications plan for programming opportunities and engagement within this portfolio, coordinating with Division Director of Communications and Marketing as well as University Marketing and Communications (and other related offices as needed).
a) Develops social media outreach strategy and implementation.
b) Develops print materials as needed.
c) Consults with and supports VP on Division communications relating to mission engagement.
2. Provides resources, training and other necessary facilitation for mission programming on campus.
Supports programming needs identified by faculty, staff and administrators for mission integration, by advising or participating in such programs or by providing content resources.
Supports programming needs identified by academic and staff units on campus for mission engagement, by advising or participating in such programs or by providing content resources.
In collaboration with program partners, identifies resource needs and collaborates with the University Advancement staff to identify funding sources.
Curates an archive of digital materials and content to support the range of mission programming on campus, according to audience needs.
Revises and updates Mission Integration website.
3. Manages on-campus programs and efforts to support participants in AJCU initiatives:
Develops and coordinates on campus programming activities to support participants in AJCU Formation Programs (Ignatian Colleagues Program, Jesuit Leadership Seminar, Ignatian Legacy Fellows, and Trustee Forum) to enhance their formation experiences.
Supports and tracks stakeholder engagement in AJCU Networks, conferences, and assemblies.
Coordinates Alpha Sigma Nu chapter at SCU, in collaboration with the DIFBF.
4. Supports and collaborates with DIFBF and the Director of Ignatian Spirituality on mission-related programming.
Meets regularly with DIFBF and the Director of Ignatian Spirituality to identify short and long term program priorities.
Provides input for programming by DIFBF and the Director of Ignatian Spirituality, including materials, formation time, and retreat support as needed.
5. Oversees Division and ICJE assessment activities related to the mission engagement program portfolio and broader areas as needed.
Develops metrics for assessing the impact of engagement with SCU’s Jesuit, Catholic mission, benchmarks SCU’s metrics, and conducts annual program reviews.
Oversees mission assessment process for mission engagement annually.
Publishes and shares mission assessment data to University stakeholders, in consultation with the VP and BIFBF.
6. Manages all operational and financial aspects related to the portfolio.
With support of operations staff, leads effective operation of program activities.
Manages annual allocated program budget, including quarterly reporting to Assistant VP of the Division.
Hires, trains, and supervises student employees and interns, if any.
Supports fundraising and donor cultivation through the Leadership Giving Officer assigned to the Division and identity and execute on grant opportunities as needed.
7. Contributes to the broader work of the Division.
Consults with constituent programs to align them more deeply with SCU’s Jesuit, Catholic educational mission.
Supports VP and Division staff in mission engagement programming.
Regularly attends Ignatian programming and Catholic liturgy events offered by other Division programs, including some events that may be held outside of regular business hours.
Regularly attend SCU campus-wide, staff-wide, and academic programming events to represent mission engagement perspectives and the Division’s work more generally, including come events that may be held outside of regular business hours.
8. Executes other tasks as assigned.

E. QUALIFICATIONS

Comprehensive understanding of and professional involvement with the Ignatian and Catholic educational paradigm, especially as it relates to faculty and staff experiences/formation.
Experience in higher education required, preferably at a Jesuit sponsored institution.
