The top salary range for this position currently reaches $101,619.60. The position will receive a 4.0% salary increase in July 2025, a 3.0% salary increase in July 2026; bringing the top step salary to $108,854.88.

Under general supervision of the Finance Director, the Information Technology Specialist I performs complex duties in connection with the coordination, installation, maintenance, and repair of computer software equipment and peripherals; assists in the research, planning, and implementation of information systems and related technology; and performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Supervision is provided by the Finance Director or their designee.
Essential Job Functions
Essential job functions may include, but are not limited to, the following: (These functions may not be present in all positions in this classification. Oversees the maintenance of three information systems: Financial, Office Automation Network, and Geographical Information Systems; delivers help desk support by telephone, face-to-face, and online support; sets up e-mail addresses, user accounts, and establishes security codes for software programs; assists users who are connected to in-house networks and to the Internet; provides end-users with initial training in computer and network facilities and applications ensuring users’ efficient and effective utilization of applications and equipment; undertakes various housekeeping and reporting functions for the areas of responsibility including hardware and software inventory, data center maintenance, routine preventative maintenance and diagnostic testing on all software and hardware systems; works with other departments, IT staff, vendors, and consultants to determine software requirements and development specifications; works on a variety of special projects; and performs other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:
To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities, and enable the individual to successfully perform the essential job functions of the position. A typical combination is:
Education and/or Experience:
Three years of experience in information systems and/or computer services. A Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, computer science, or a closely related field is highly desirable.
Knowledge of:
Modern methods of computer and informational systems; standard software development; database management systems and software; methods and techniques for the installation and configuration of hardware, software, and network connectivity; office administrative practices and procedures; and applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to data retention and dissemination of data throughout the computer network.
Ability to:
Perform routine troubleshooting to resolve routine to moderately difficult systems, data, management, communication, and interoperating problems; establish and maintain various data collection, record keeping, tracking, filing, and reporting systems; prepare clear and concise technical, administrative, and financial reports including accurate tables; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Class “C” California Driver’s License is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, crouching and stooping in the performance of daily office activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in retrieving and entering data using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading work related documents and using the computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:Employee generally works indoors. Environment is generally clean with limited exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, or odors. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but the employee may occasionally be exposed to loud talking and interruptions from telephones and/or members of the public.

SELECTION PROCESS:Applicants must complete an application online prior to the final filing date.
