Position Information
Arlington County’s Department of Technology Services (DTS) is seeking an experienced Endpoint Infrastructure Engineer to be part of the Technology Infrastructure and Operations Division’s Endpoint Infrastructure team. This team collaborates extensively with both technical and non-technical County staff across all Departments. The position will help establish and maintain the systems, tools, policies, and processes required to centrally manage the endpoint environment. Duties will focus on definition, implementation, tracking and configuration of the endpoint computing environment for workstations, laptops, mobile devices, and other endpoint platforms, as well as testing and qualifying all endpoint device software and updates in accordance with compliance and audit requirements. In addition, the incumbent will support the team in defining and creating the next generation endpoint platform for the enterprise.
Specific duties include:
Applying advanced methods and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex endpoint system requirements and problems, such as system policies and endpoint security;
Developing and implementing processes for patch management, imaging, software distribution, and other technologies;
Managing and leveraging Microsoft InTune Suite of Technologies and Defender for Endpoint, endpoint protection/device encryption using BitLocker and Microsoft Security Baselines on endpoints;
Packaging and launching remote fixes at the endpoint level, including installing and upgrading software, updating hardware, and implementing file backups;
Assisting in the planning for application and/or desktop virtualization using Microsoft Azure;
Providing tier-3 technical support to customers in a complex environment by investigating and resolving hardware and software related issues;
Creating and managing Group Policies, transition on-prem policies using Microsoft InTune and Azure Configuration Profiles for a diverse computing environment; and
Designing and developing complex, integrated system solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance for a diversified environment leveraging industry research and best practices.
Selection Criteria
Minimums:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, or a related field; and
Considerable experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, including experience managing and implementing information systems, programming, systems analysis, process re-engineering, project management, and/or web development.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
Operating System Deployment and Upgrades using Microsoft Autopilot and MDT;
Security Patch Management using InTune and WSUS;
Cloud Certification such as Microsoft 365 Administration;
Implementing VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) and/or Windows as a Service, and/or virtualizing applications or desktops utilizing Windows 365;
Cloud experience with cloud providers such as AWS and Microsoft Azure;
Network Infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, 802.1X, Multicast) and an understanding of how to support these applications/protocols; and/or
Experienced using Active Directory and Microsoft Azure EntraID and security related to OUs, GPOs, and computer/user object management in AD and InTune Configuration Profiles.

Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products including Teams and operating system (Windows 10 & 11) deployments in a corporate, Enterprise environment.
Hybrid-Based Cloud Solutions and Virtualization technologies in a corporate, Enterprise environment

The salary listed is effective July 1, 2024.
Work hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.mm. - 5:00 p.m. with occasional after hour support. This is a hybrid position that will require the employee to be onsite a minimum of two days per week. .
