The anticipated hiring range for this position is $4,600 - $4,800 per month.
The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
About the Department/Position:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of the Infrastructure Team, the incumbent plays a key role in helping administer the Network Telecom VoIP Phone System, ensuring network security through vulnerability scans and CVE management, and enhancing team collaboration with comprehensive training and documentation efforts. This position requires effective communication, collaboration with various IT teams, and a proactive approach to system deployment, security, and educational initiatives. The incumbent is expected to monitor and troubleshoot network-related issues and provide resolution to ensure network devices are up at all times.
Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming support tickets and collaborate with the IT team to resolve Zoom Phone system issues.
- Assign phone extensions and manage user access in coordination with HR and department managers.
- Collaborate with the network team to review and update the status of phone system deployments.
- Assist in deployments of new features, working closely with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct vulnerability scans and collaborate with the IT and development teams to prioritize fixes.
- Search for and share relevant CVEs with system and application administrators, facilitating discussion on mitigation strategies.
- Summarize and distribute security update notes, working with relevant teams to understand impact and implementation.
- Notify and work closely with affected teams to resolve identified security issues, ensuring a coordinated response.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of a large and diverse university network.
- Knowledge of Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent hardware and software, Unix operating systems
- Knowledge of general principles of local and wide area networks, network topologies, network troubleshooting, security, and management.
- knowledge or experience with fundamental and core network concepts ( e.g. TCP/IP, NTP, DNS, Ethernet, IP addressing, LAN vs WAN, Cloud computing, ARP, Subnetting, Default gateway, and the use of other protocols)
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications and transmission technologies, including network architecture, topologies, protocols, programming applications and interfaces appropriate to the defined work area and assignments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cyber Security.
