JOB DESCRIPTION:
Description of Position
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, plan and provide occupational therapy services to eligible individuals; prepare related evaluations and reports; maintain related records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plan and implement occupational therapy treatment for physically handicapped, autistic, ADD, ADHD, LD and other disabled individuals; evaluate functional limitations; implement direct care and exercise programs; monitor and adjust individual and group programs as needed.
2. Prepare written evaluations, maintain records and prepare reports concerning students assessed / eligible for OT services; review medical reports; communicate with other personnel as necessary.
3. Consult with the medical team, educators and parents regarding the disability of children for the purpose of extending therapeutic activities to the classroom.
4. Observe in student’s classroom to assess the environment and adaptive equipment needed to allow eligible students to participate in activities such as hygiene, toileting, dressing, play and classroom participation.
5. Develop, gather information and evaluate programs and procedures for occupational therapy and assessment; review therapy goals for each individual, recommend adjustments as appropriate.
