Job Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Director, Special Education & Pupil Personnel Services and in consultation with the Director, Student Support Services, the Director provides administrative leadership and assumes responsibility for the planning, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and supervision of all aspects of the district’s educational therapeutic mental health services initiatives through cost recovery programs/models and state mental health allocations. Serves as a knowledgeable source on mental health program development, mental health curriculum, and operational matters. The Director provides support and guidance to school personnel and manages staffing to ensure that program objectives and mental health services adhere to compliance standards.
The position provides support and technical assistance for MTSS structures specifically with respect to mental health program development and therapeutic services, as well as other duties assigned; works in conjunction and interactively with general education to develop and integrate a full spectrum of mental health services; maintains compliance with state and federal laws and regulations; supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; ensures the implementation of the mandates of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) pertaining to mental health and assists in policy development for procedures related to mental health.
Requirements / Qualifications
Administrative Services Credential/Certificate of Eligibility or Pupil Personnel Services, School Psychology
Credential with authorization in Education Specialist Instruction, or Pupil Personnel Services School Psychology
Master’s degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in Special Education, Educational Administration, or related field(s)
Progressively responsible experience in providing administrative leadership in public schools, and/or Special Education; recent experience as a district-level administrator highly desirable
Recent experience supervising Special Education Educational Therapeutic Programs & Services
Experience working with a variety of agencies and other community resources involved with students and families
Five (5) years of successful experience as a teacher, psychologist, or as a support personnel specialist in the operation of programs for students with disabilities; central office administration or site administration experience preferred
Three years of experience in developing and implementing mental health/wellness programs
Possession of personal qualities essential for leadership and teamwork that instills confidence from school patrons, the Board of Education and the community.
Successful experience working with a diverse student and community population.
