EASD is seeking qualified applicants for Secondary Social Studies Teachers starting November 2024.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our team of educators. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of history, geography, politics, and cultures, and will be able to inspire and engage students in meaningful discussions and learning experiences. The Social Studies Teacher will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging lesson plans, fostering critical thinking, and helping students develop a strong understanding of the world around them.

Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.
Use a variety of teaching methods, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles.
Encourage active participation, critical thinking, and open discussions among students.
Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects.
Provide timely feedback and support to students to help them achieve their academic goals.
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate social studies concepts across disciplines.
Stay updated with current events, trends, and educational research related to social studies.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay informed about best practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Valid teaching certification for the relevant grade level and subject area.
Strong knowledge of social studies content, pedagogy, and curriculum development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students of diverse backgrounds.
Proficiency in using technology for instruction and classroom management.
Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Prior teaching experience, especially in a secondary school setting, is a plus.
Other Requirements: Applicants must also possess the following criminal clearances obtained within the last 12 months: Act 34 - PA Criminal Record; Act 114 - FBI Background Check; Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Clearance. The Ephrata Area School District also requires a pre-employment drug test, physical, and TB test upon offer of employment as directed by PDE and the PA Department of Health.
