Repsol has an opening in The Woodlands, Texas for a new professional as a Facilities/Project Engineer, to support Repsol's business across the Americas region, as part of the Technical Services Unit.
Summary
The candidate will support the Americas Business Units Assets/Projects Teams with technical guidance concerning all facility and project management engineering, project services, logistics and construction related efforts.
The Facilities/Project Engineer will report to the Technical Services and HSE Manager of the Americas Regional Unit that oversees the technical work and HSE matters of all the Business Units in the Americas region, including 9 different Business Units from North and South America where Repsol has operated or non-operated assets, or projects.
The Americas region consist of the following business: Bolivia BU (business unit), Peru BU, Colombia BU, Trinidad & Tobago BU, US GOM BU, Eagle Ford BU, Marcellus BU, Alaska Pikka Development Project, Mexico Project.
A significant portion of the Facilities/Project Engineer's time will be dedicated to coordinating with the Technical E&P staff from the head offices in our Madrid headquarters. These teams provide the technical expertise which rule and govern all disciplines. As such, the selected individual should be highly professional, collaborative, and will have a strong academic background, to serve as an impactful technical contributor in this critical business area.
This position could at times require domestic and international travel including short-term or long-term stays, with the possibility for reassignment depending on the project. The ideal candidate has an expressed interest in a role which provides exposure and development opportunities as part of a critical technical resource team. The selected candidate will be open to mobility and geographically flexible in terms of location, duration of travel, and availability to travel in/out of the United States.
Function and Responsibilities
Maintain a safe working environment by applying process safety and personal HSE codes and principles to all designs and activities under his/her area of influence.
Coordinate and consolidate engineering, maintenance, and construction projects as well as other required regional data for the purpose of planning and budgeting the cost and activities for all the Americas Region.
Advise Americas Technical Services and HSE Manager as well as the Americas Regional Executive Director on all facilities engineering and project management technical decisions.
Collaborate and support each BU/Project engineering teams on the design, planning and execution of their projects.
Liaison as required with the TEP Central teams, concerning all facility engineering, project services, logistics and construction related issues for the Americas region businesses.
Review, execute, engineering studies, drawings, plans, calculations, procedures, reports, and other typical engineering documents.
Develop REPSOL’s own internal project schedules, cost estimates, and risk assessments compatible with the project stage whether ROM (rough order of magnitude), front-end, detailed engineering, execution, commissioning or start-up whenever applicable
Recommend, specify, initiate, and manage any independent study that REPSOL might need to perform in order to confirm or benchmark studies performed by third parties.
Coordinate with other disciplines such as Exploration, Production, Operations, Drilling, Completion, Land, HSE, GHG and Supply Chain among others, as necessary to properly perform his duties.
Support the Americas BUs, Alaska and Mexico Project teams in the execution of all quality assurance reviews/events as required by REPSOL’s Integrated Project Management (GIP) processes.
Determine critical engineering issues, communicate problems effectively to stakeholders and develop solutions to such issues.
Maintain excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills to effectively interact with/present to stakeholders within as well as outside REPSOL, including Senior Management.
Continuously interface/coordinate with project stakeholders.
Use best interpersonal skill, technical knowledge, experience, and self-confidence to influence the Operator to adopt/pursue the most recommended option(s) in REPSOL’s view in terms of the project’s facility.
Apply continuous improvement techniques to optimize process maps for all activities under area of influence; support/contribute to REPSOL’s RISE (CI) initiative.
Manage/support multiple projects within applicable timelines, budgets, and HSE requirements.
Identify opportunities to develop best practices and roll them out to all the Business Units.
Requirements
Must be fully authorized to work indefinitely in the US for any company without limitations, restrictions, program requirements, or sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not eligible for sponsorship or limited term employment through CPT/OPT programs.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Petroleum, or Marine). Must have a strong academic background with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
1+ year of broad petroleum industry experience. This is a new professional role but having some experience in the industry is preferred.
Dynamic interpersonal and communication skills. Able to work collaboratively and cohesively across multiple disciplines and levels of seniority.
Must have at least a basic understanding of production facilities.
Must be experienced with cost estimating and benchmarking, familiarity of cost estimating classification in accordance with the American Association of Cost Engineering International (AACEI), and prior exposure to cost estimating software.
Candidate must possess technical, project management and leadership skills to execute projects on time and within budget, with examples of each.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate a commitment to a safe work environment.
Strong team player.
Availability to travel around all the Americas region as required.
Must be fluent in English.
Preferably open to mobility opportunities, geographically flexible for travel and potentially reassignment, in terms of location, duration of travel, and availability to travel in/out of the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of Spanish is highly desirable but not mandatory.
Project Management certification is preferable.
Professional Engineer Certification is preferable.
