We are looking for a team member with the following expectations:
- Responsible for assisting the dentist in clinical treatment of patients, ordering supplies and helping in the clinical area and sterile tech support.
- Prepare operatory for patient care by selecting and setting up instruments, materials, and equipment. Your responsibilities may include scheduling patient appointments, performing x-rays, and assisting before, during, and after a root canal. During these procedures, you may clean the patient’s mouth, pass tools to the dentist, or monitor the patient’s well being and comfort. Prepare patients for treatment by taking and recording medical histories, vital signs, and dental charting
- Taking dental impressions of a patient’s teeth using a tray or other device that holds the material that will be used to make a mold of the teeth Assist the dentist during procedures by passing instruments, suctioning, mixing materials, and making impressions
- Take digital radiographs and intraoral photos
- Helping the dentist locate, extract, and disinfect all traces of infection from within the tooth, including drilling the tooth to remove infected tissue or placing medication inside the canal during treatment
- Explaining the procedure to the patient, providing physical support during the process, and monitoring the patient’s comfort level during treatment
- Preparing the patient’s teeth for permanent fillings by removing soft tissue from the teeth and shaping the tooth to prepare it for a filling material such as composite resin or gold alloy
- Sterilize instruments and equipment following infection control guidelines
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, periodontal health, and post-operative care
- Remove sutures and review post-operative instructions with patients
- Keep a clean and organized work area
- Adhere to all OSHA and CDC guidelines
- Comply with state regulations regarding infection control and sterilization
- Maintain current CPR certification
