The Chief Imaging Officer provides vision, leadership and accountability in developing, driving and deploying strategic expansion, integration and key initiatives across the UCSF Health system. Has authority and accountability for various health system operations for imaging, including but not limited to optimization of operational performance, service line development, quality of care, patient satisfaction, human resources, and capital/facility planning.
The Chief Imaging Officer collaborates with leadership and management in Imaging across a broad spectrum of responsibilities. The position participates in the development and administration of clinical and business operations and directs and supervises hospital and hospital-based clinic activities through management and support staff. Designs and leads strategic and operational planning for multiple disciplines/modalities in Radiology Imaging Services across UCSF Health. This includes multiple sites spanning inpatient and outpatient services, adults and pediatrics. Accountable for the overall administration, financial management and planning, human resources functions, and oversight of fiscal and material resources across sites. Develops and monitors productivity metrics that maximize efficiencies and economies of scale across sites and modalities. With physician departmental leaders, develops and implements patient care service standards, ensures maintenance of high quality and safety standards for patients and employees, ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, and develops new business strategies to improve performance and increase market share. In collaboration with the Radiation Safety Officer, department physician medical directors and vice chair of quality and safety, oversees the departmental quality program.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Licensed technologist or R.N. in a radiology modality preferred.Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Master’s Degree in business, health administration or clinical degree related to radiology In-depth clinical practice and applied background in one or more radiology modalities. Advanced knowledge of industry trends. At least seven (7) years management experience. Advanced knowledge of health care delivery models, business and strategic planning, financial management, and organizational development. Skilled in effectively coaching and developing direct reports and/or other employees. Advanced ability to establish and utilize metrics to support business planning and operational improvement. Demonstrated skills to organize, simplify and increase efficiency of Radiology protocols, procedures, and technology while maintaining standards and compliance. Advanced ability to work collaboratively and effectively with hospital executives, campus leadership, external agencies, and other academic medical centers and healthcare institutions. Strong analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate complex or new issues and identify options for resolution when no precedent exists. Verbal and written communication skills to address critical, sensitive situations. Strong abilities to actively listen, and change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others.
