Job Abstract

Clinical Dietitian performs clinical and community functions related to patient care and nutrition education. Assists with projects as assigned. Clinical Dietitian performs nutritional screening and nutritional assessments of patients to determined nutritional status and develop plan of care. Clinical Dietitian investigates and makes appropriate recommendations for alternative feeding methods for patient with inadequate intake and assures alternative feeding modality meets the needs of patient. ... more detailsClinical Dietitian counsels and educates individuals and their families regarding nutrition and diet modifications including inpatients, outpatients, home bound clients and the community at large. Conducts community/patient nutrition education programs and employee inservices as assigned; prepares visual aids and handouts. Serves as an active member of any committees as appointed. Communicates with members of the health care team about patient nutritional needs and problems. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY - Four year college degree in nutrition or dietetics program from an accredited college/university is required. Must be registered or eligible for registration in the American Dietetic Association. (if RD eligible, must submit proof of registration) within one year of employment or services will be terminated). Required to obtain a West Virginia license and fulfill the requirements established by the West Virginia Board of Licensed Dietitians for the annual renewal of the license. EXPERIENCE:One to three years experience in hospital environment preferred. One year Clinical Nutrition/ Dietetics experience in healthcare required. The experience gained in an internship or in a coordinated undergraduate program will be considered for this requirement.
