Job Abstract

The Seasonal Inclusion Coordinator serves as a resource and support for individuals, families, and Y leaders. By providing ongoing guidance, education, and strategies, the Inclusion Coordinator will promote an inclusive environment throughout Y programs and operations to ensure our YMCA is open and accepting to individuals of all abilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:

1. Thinks, communicates, and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
2. Work directly with children who exhibit complex behaviors to gather data and develop strategies to reduce and/or eliminate challenges within the YMCA programs.
3. Analyze individual child data to help develop a positive behavior support plan for teaching staff to implement in programs.
4. Model various behavioral interventions with the YMCA program staff members.
5. Provide ongoing support and resources to YMCA program staff to ensure that individualized services are effectively provided to a child with diagnosed or suspected disabilities, IEP, and/or mental/behavioral health concerns.
6. Provides staff with the information, guidance, and resources needed to help modify activities, remove barriers, and provide support as needed for the inclusion of children with disabilities or mental/behavioral health concerns in the full range of program activities.
7. Submits reports as needed and requested, such as monthly summary tracking reports, etc.
8. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth, participates in required abuse risk management training, reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors, follows mandated abuse reporting requirements, and adheres to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities.

• Bachelors in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Intervention or related degree and/or equivalent experience working within the special education field and/or with youth who have social-emotional concerns.
• Working knowledge of various methodologies and crisis intervention strategies used to address the needs of children with behavioral challenges and special needs; keeping current with issues, laws, and regulations regarding positive behavior interventions
• Proficient skills in problem-solving, decision-making, time management, and organization.
• Must know a variety of computer software applications Microsoft Office and strong skills related to data tracking and entry.
• The individual must possess: strong written and oral communication skills; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitor own work to ensure quality; identify and resolve problems promptly, gather and analyze information skillfully and maintain confidentiality; and have demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Exceptional organizational skills required. The ability to meet designated deadlines is also critical.
• YMCA Leader certification; if not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months.
• Passionate belief in the Ys cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
• Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
