The Regional Transit Authority gets people moving around New Orleans. Our transit services bring hard-working commuters to their jobs, students to their schools, and fun-seekers to entertainment, shopping areas, and restaurants. We provide mobility to residents of the city as well as tourists, taking them to and from their hotels to historical neighborhoods and countless attractions. RTA’s system includes 5 streetcar lines, 30 bus routes, 2 ferry routes, and paratransit services. Our passengers take more than 19 million rides every year.

Monitors operations and communicates via "two-way" radio with Paratransit operators.
Assign operators to designated Paratransit vehicles.
Provide location information to Paratransit operators as needed.
Operates a computerized dispatching system and records all information relative to passenger pick-ups and drop-offs.
Handles Paratransit telephone calls courteously and professionally.
Evaluate all emergencies and incidents that occur in the field and adjust operations accordingly.
Provide excellent customer service to employees, patrons, and citizens.
Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of RTA are carried out.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Assist Paratransit Schedulers when appropriate.
Monitor communications system operation.
Attend training sessions and other meetings as required.
Act as liaison between the Paratransit office and passengers in time of unusual conditions or emergencies.
Performs other job-related duties which are in keeping with the goals and objectives of RTA
Qualifications
EDUCATION High school graduate or G.E.D., or experience and training to the equivalent.
EXPERIENCE A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of recent experience directly related to passenger transportation is preferred. General typing/word processing skills and basic computer knowledge.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS A valid Louisiana Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions. Must submit to a criminal background check, the results of which must meet hiring criteria for the role. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
This is a designated Safety Sensitive Position Covered under USDOT(Federal Transit Administration [FTA] Regulations). Drug and Alcohol Testing is conducted using FTA regulations.
