You will be an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to support our government client systems.
Manage day-to-day tasks related to maintaining and enhancing a specialized network with various interfaces to client applications.
Responsible for maintaining, scheduling, executing software and hardware upgrades, patches and reconfigurations, identifying and troubleshooting hardware and software issues with workstations and servers, and continuous system monitoring.
Demonstrate the ability to create and maintain detailed documentation, be willing to partake in group collaboration/project planning, and effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels within the organization.
Provide support for the internal systems and networks used by our client to conduct and support mission.
Focus on designing, engineering, and implementation of complex networks that require application of best practices and compliance requirements.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
Active TS/SCI with required polygraph clearance
15+ years of demonstrated experience as a Systems Engineer/Linux Systems focusing on support to Linux Systems, specifically within federal government environments
Experience in automating installation, monitoring, and executing tasks using Linux scripting or Python
Extensive experience with open-source technologies and systems engineering/architecture
Experience working with Ansible, Terraform, or like technologies
Good communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical customers
Development of technical documentation and briefing materials to support program status reviews, control gates and other presentations as directed by client management
Demonstrated experience with install new software releases and system upgrades
Evaluate and install patches and resolve software-related problems
Experience with Linux Distros – Rocky Linux, Ubuntu
Experience with running/updating REPO’s
Experience with centralized authentication, auditing, logging, and backups
Experience with Cron, iptables, permissions
Experience with OpenVPN, SELinux, NFS, CIFS
Experience with backups and restore
Ability to draw detailed diagrams and write clear documentation
Willingness to learn new technologies and help clients with their technical issues before escalating to senior staff
Attentiveness and detail-oriented approach
Ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to think critically and exhibit strong problem-solving skills
Prior help desk experience a plus
Experience in a ticket-based work environment a plus (e.g., ServiceNow)
Experience with JIRA and Confluence, and the rest of the Atlassian suite
