Job Description: The Scientist role is focused on investigating automated sample preparation and library preparation solutions for next-generation sequencing platforms using the GeneXpert system. The candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with teams in Engineering, R&D, Chemistry, among others, and with external partners. This position requires a self-motivated, curious, and highly organized individual who is also an innovative problem solver.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently design strategies and experimental plans for new sample prep, library prep, and sequencing methods.
Conduct hands-on evaluations, tests, development, and troubleshooting of methods.
Work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary environment.
Analyze data utilizing tools such as Microsoft Excel, Minitab, R, or command line tools.
Conduct studies with limited supervision.
Establish prototype specifications for initial feasibility studies.
Maintain detailed experimental records.
Present findings and participate in group meetings.
Essential Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering) with 2+ years of experience, or Master’s/Doctoral degree with 0+ years of experience.
Deep knowledge of and experience with nucleic acid purification, PCR.
Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex problems.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and statistical analysis tools like Excel, Minitab, or R.
Desirable Additional Qualifications:
Experience in short-read (e.g., Illumina) and long-read (e.g., Oxford Nanopore) sequencing experiments and data analysis.
Familiarity with data analysis in a Linux/Unix environment.
