Community Relations Coordinator

We have an opportunity at our Martinez Refinery in California and are seeking a talented Community Relations Coordinator to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy.
The Community Relations Coordinator reports to the Strategic Communication Director as a member of the Community Relations Department, a support organization for the Martinez Refining Company. The successful candidate will play an integral role on a vibrant, energetic Community Relations team and assist in executing a variety of duties, including, but not limited to, administrative support to the department, event management, internal and external communication, media relations, stakeholder engagement, and crisis communication.
As described below in more detail, the position requires strong written and oral communication skills, planning and project execution skills, and the ability to work both independently and on project and cross-functional teams.
Job Responsibilities May Include:
- Assist the team with administrative tasks that support the department’s strategies and tactics.
- Assist with internal and external communication, such as the company’s internal employee newsletter, the company’s community newsletter, and social media content.
- Perform content design and development, editing, proofreading, and distribution of communication materials.
- Serve as the department’s employee engagement liaison to Human Resources, assisting with new hire on-boarding, job fairs, and other tasks as needed.
- Maintain contact databases, communications software including website, constant contact, social media accounts, etc., and publication subscriptions.
- Serve as Assistant Public Information Officer as a member of the refinery’s emergency response team.
- Maintain the department’s Public Information Officer Handbook.
- Manage certain internal and external company events, e.g., Refinery Open House, Employee events, etc.
- Coordinate logistics for internal and external company events; some requiring after hour and/or weekend support.
- Manage the external use of the company’s Clubhouse and Clubhouse Use Policy.
- Maintain weekly team meeting slide deck and department calendar to facilitate team metrics and intra-team communication.
- Manage the department’s storage rooms, equipment, and giveaway items.
- Manage use of the refinery fence line for community advertising.
- Assist philanthropic and community activities as assigned by the Strategic Communication Director, Community Relations Manager, and Strategic Communication Advisor.
- Be the department’s first line of response for community inquiries, handling the response if applicable or routing to the appropriate person.
- Ensure the company is appropriately represented at various community events throughout the year, attending events as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Specific Requirements:
- Participate in the refinery incident response team on-call rotation.
- Some evening hours and weekend work responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, STEM field, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or related discipline, or the equivalent work experience.
- Two years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Personable with a passion to accomplish whatever tasks may be required to accomplish the department’s mission.
- Strong sense of design and understanding of communication tools (e.g., constant contact, website, social media, etc.)
- Strong oral, written, planning, organizational, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Five or more years of relevant experience

The salary range for this position is $88,424.81 - $156,910.67. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation. In addition to salary, PBF offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
