Anne Arundel Gastroenterology Associates (AAGA), a Covenant Physician Partner, is hiring a full-time Pre-Registration Associate to join our growing team.
About the Opportunity
Shift: Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a half-hour lunch break. AAGA is not open on weekends or holidays.
The Pre-Registration Representative is responsible for verifying insurance information and collecting demographics from patients before their scheduled appointment. Under the supervision of the Billing Manager, the Employee will adhere to and comply with the Covenant Code of Conduct, Human Resource Policies and Procedures, Operational Policy and Procedure Manual, HIPAA Compliance, Patient Bill of Rights, and the Corporate Compliance Plan.
This position works in a fast-paced environment and the ideal candidate will have above-average written and verbal communication skills and the ability to move between tasks throughout the day with limited guidance.
Essential Duties
- Verify and pre-certify patient insurance information prior to their scheduled appointment.
- Complete patient chart preparation by updating demographics, requesting referrals, and collecting patient forms including: patient registration, personal history, HIPAA, and portal forms.
- Inform patients of deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance which will be collected at the time of service.
- Coordinate payment arrangements with self-pay patients.
- Monitor past schedules for completed paperwork including referrals, verification, pre-certifications and authorizations.
About the Candidate
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Two (2) or more years of experience working in a insurance verification role
- Previous experience with EHR/EMR
- Ability to complete data entry with a high level of accuracy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Microsoft Office suite to include Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Obtaining Prior Authorization/Referrals
