Overview
The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks applicants for a Research Specialist I to join the laboratories of Professors Coleen Murphy and Joshua Shaevitz. The position consists of maintaining fruit fly stocks, preparing media and other necessary reagents, running fly behavior experiments and performing computational data analysis.
Salary will include the full benefits package. This is a one-year term position, with the possibility of renewal based on available funding and satisfactory performance.

Maintain live stocks of melanogaster for laboratory use.
Assist lab members in experiments.
Participate in lab group
Other lab duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications:
One year of relevant research experience required.
Computational data analysis skills in Python and/or Matlab.
Must be able to maintain a meticulous daily laboratory notebook.
Must be able to work well with others and provide support to other projects.
Must have excellent organizational skills and flexibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Should have a strong attention to detail.
Preferred qualifications:
Some experience with basic molecular biology and invertebrate model systems procedures is preferred but not necessary.
Education required:
Bachelor’s degree in physics or a relevant field.
