The Akron Board of Education announces an opening for an Occupational Therapist, Job Code 125, TS 380 (190 Days), Salary Range TBD. Collective Bargaining Unit – AEA. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Provides an occupational therapy evaluation as part of the required multi-factored assessment;
Assists in the development of the IEP;
Provides therapy which will improve, develop or restore functions impaired or lost through illness, injury or deprivation; Improves ability to perform task for independent functioning when functions are impaired or lost;
Prevents, through early intervention, initial of further impairment of loss of function;
The services of an Occupational Therapist may include: functioning as a consultant with the child’s parent and school personnel;
Attends/participates in building-level or therapy-specific Professional Learning Community;
Instructing parents and teachers in the use of techniques and equipment;
Assisting in the provision of the specialized and adaptive activities in the prevocational and vocational programs;
Coordinates the occupational therapy program with physical therapy, classroom and speech therapy schedules;
Reports to the building principal and to the Director of Special Education.
