Job Summary
Purpose: The job of Custodial/Groundsworker is done for the purpose/s of maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facilities and grounds areas for students, staff, and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events; and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure. Incumbents in this classification provide students, staff and the public with well-maintained and safe building infrastructure and facilities that directly supports learning.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: Job related experience is required.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Certificates & Licenses: Valid California Driver's License
Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background, TB Clearance (upon hire)

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include safety practices and procedures; methods of industrial cleaning; operation and use of grounds power equipment; and methods and materials used in grounds maintenance and custodial activities.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data, and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem-solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines, and problem-solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; and working as part of a team.
