The Team:
Our team manages the Global Forecasting and Analysis and Accounting for the Out-Licensing Organization. Our activities include developing the Annual and Quarterly Financial forecasts, performing monthly analysis on the Company’s financial results, and supporting all the out-licensing business teams. We work with cross functional partners across the organization and communicate performance to them as well as to Senior Leadership.
The Opportunity:
Mattel is currently looking for Sr. Financial Analyst to join our Franchise Finance Accounting team in El Segundo, CA. You will play a critical role in supporting the Digital Gaming (“Gaming”) and Mattel Films/TV teams as well as own consolidation activities for the out-licensing team. This is an opportunity to learn about the licensing business and its role and purpose within Mattel. This role will support the Global licensing teams and include coordination with cross functional partners across the organization.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Interpret and apply accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 810/323) to proposed business transactions and activities.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support long-term planning processes, including new proposed transactions and projects.
- Research and analyze technical accounting issues, providing recommendations and solutions to management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, legal, and operations to assess the accounting implications of business decisions and to build accounting models.
- Support internal and external audit processes, including the preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor inquiries.
- Coordinate and manage the Licensee audits performed by our third-party provider.
- Develop and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard financial data and ensure accuracy in financial information.
- Assist in the preparation of financial presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA/CPA candidate required
- 4+ years of relevant experience (or 3+ with Master’s degree) in technical accounting, financial analysis, and external/internal audit
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Thorough understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems (Oracle/HPT)
- Knowledge of entertainment industry trends, accounting rules and best practices, preferred.
- Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
The annual base salary range for this position is between $104,000 and $130,000
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
