About the Position:
Firefighter-Paramedic (Entry Level) candidates must possess the qualifications below, but may have less than two years of qualifying full-time experience as a Firefighter. Firefighter-Paramedics serve the public by performing fire suppression, prevention, and rescue activities while protecting life, property and the environment; providing basic and advanced life support medical care and treatment; and performing fire prevention duties. SRFD is looking for candidates who are highly motivated, hardworking, honest, forward thinking, mechanically inclined, problem solvers and who are used to working in a team environment.
Firefighter-Paramedics are expected to successfully complete a comprehensive firefighter training program. Firefighters are also expected to perform the full range of fire suppression, safety and prevention duties on an in-service training basis and to learn and perform journey-level skills in all areas of work assigned.
In order to apply, you must meet the following requirements
- Be active on the FCTC Statewide Eligibility List OR
- Have a passing score on the FCTC Written Test between July 10, 2023 and July 10, 2024 and pass the FCTC Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) prior to job offer.

- Possess a Firefighter I Certificate issued by the California State Fire Marshal OR
- Have successfully completed or are currently enrolled in a California State Fire Marshal approved Firefighter I Academy.
Completion of Firefighter 1 Academy will be required before a permanent job offer is made.
- Possess current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification AND
- Possess a State of California EMT-P (Paramedic) License OR
- Have completed Paramedic coursework and are currently in an internship program approved by Coastal Valleys Emergency Medical Services Agency (CVEMSA) in Sonoma or Mendocino County.
Possession of the State of California EMT-P (Paramedic) License will be required before a job offer is made.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Coastal Valleys Emergency Medical Services Agency (CVEMSA) accreditation within the first four months of employment with the City of Santa Rosa.
- Possess a valid California Class C driver's license with the ability to obtain a DMV Health Questionnaire and Firefighter Endorsement by the end of probation.
