THE JOB
As Food & Beverage Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate management and reporting of all O&O venues financial results – working with each location self-operating leadership team or concessionaire to develop action plans to continually drive financial performance. The Controller remains part of the core F&B leadership team, participating in management meetings and building strong relationships with location stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and dynamic Finance/Accounting professional with strong F&B operational experience also. They will understand financial concepts and how these relate to operational procedures and outcomes.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
- Ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent reporting of financial reporting from each self-operating and concessionaire operation
- Collaborate with accounting and analytics teams to develop standard reporting procedures for food and beverage financials.
- Research variances from budgeted costs and margin at the venue level.
- Work cross functionally with finance, operations, and culinary to develop targeted financial goals that align with business objectives.
- Partner with operations and executives to socialize and clearly explain financial goals and targets, ensuring a clear understanding.
- Work with Analytics team to understand each of the venues programs and how efficient they continue to be executed.
- Collaborate with analytics team to develop action plans driving financial performance which would include but not limited to;
- Food Inventory & Cost Controls
- Beverage Inventory & Cost Controls
- Labor Planning and Controls
- Operating Costs and Controls
- Working with operations teams to understand financial data and take actions to drive improvements where necessary – hold monthly results review with clear communications and path towards greater efficiencies and results moving forward
- Work closely with accounting team to ensure settlements at the end of each calendar month are accurate (both self-operating and concessionaire)
- Working with location leader to continually refine and update location financial forecasts
- Complete a monthly report that details each venues results with full transparency to full Venue Nation Leadership team
- Work with legal and accounting teams to ensure all third-party venues are balanced to their contractual obligation
- Apply the financial policies and procedures of the company. Bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management.
- Assist corporate and venues management in preparation of all key budget schedules across an array of restaurants; analyze budget data and assist in preparation of required budget schedules.
- Managing an accurate and timely month-end close process for all self-operating venues
- Work closely with Analytics team during the annual budgetary processes to ensure that all venues are included accurately through the process
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience with revenue control, financial reporting and cash handling responsibilities, at least 3 years in a similar capacity
- Accounting experience in foodservice or retail industry required, foodservice operations experience a must.
- Ability to communicate financial results effectively to upper management.
- Business Degree and/or CPA certification is preferred.
- High level of computer literacy
- Passion for hospitality, food, and retail
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work non-standard hours as dictated by event schedule.
