Job Abstract

ERM is seeking a motivated Consulting Senior Associate, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance who is interested in participating on a variety of projects covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services, to join our consulting firm in the Walnut Creek area. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers on EHS compliance, sustainability, and due diligence transaction projects.  This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging environmental projects for large industrial and global clients. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform Safety risk assessments and implement effective programs, procedures, practices and standard work to ensure regulatory compliance and protect employees. This includes machine guarding and knowledge of automated equipment/ robotics.
• Understand compliance with key safety programs, including, Chemical, Lab, Robotics, laser, electrical, data center and construction safety Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance, sustainability, site investigation, and due diligence transaction projects.
• Conduct inspections, investigations, safety observations, job safety analysis and risk assessments and resulting mitigation activities that will identify, evaluate and control unsafe health & safety hazards or risks.
• Prepare plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, storm water, NPDES, and wastewater programs. 
• Perform EHS compliance assessments and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support the development of EHS compliance and management system programs.
• Provide general EHS compliance support to clients, including on-site assistance as needed.
• Conduct environmental field work, including groundwater, soil, sediment, and surface water sampling and ecological field studies.
• Conduct inspections to verify EHS compliance at customer sites
• Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to effectively manage projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, or related discipline.  Masters a plus. Or the equivalency of 8+ years related experience in lieu of education.
• 0-3 years of health and safety experience, preferably in high tech, Pharma and healthcare, and aerospace.
• CSP/ASP, EIT, CHMM certifications or similar is desirable.
• Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Local candidates preferred.

For the Consulting Senior Associate, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance (Entry Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $66,000 – $66,884 (CAD/USD).  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above.  This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
