This position is responsible for Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) programs throughout the Company, including key third-party partners and Tier 1 supplier facilities. This person will track safety metrics at all applicable facilities, and will plan, develop and administer EHS programs that proactively support the Company’s goal of an accident-free workplace and that are in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This person is based in our headquarters in Carlsbad, CA and reports directly to the Senior Manager of Compliance and Supplier Responsibility.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Supports the development and execution of corporate safety programs and policies; responsible for ensuring implementation of the programs throughout the company, as well as with key third-party partners and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Prepares and updates corporate guidance on procedures to comply with all government safety and corporate safety programs, and provides guidance to facilities in maintaining compliance with these procedures as well as the TaylorMade’s Supplier Responsibility Standards.
- Serves as consultant to Sourcing team and Operations leadership on EHS and executes global training summits and quarterly trainings in accordance with the annual plan.
- Assists in developing and implementing behavior modification and risk mitigation programs in support of established goals.
- Coordinates and leads safety and environmental audits at each facility on a regular basis for primary suppliers (Ops and Supply chain) and tracks performance.
- Maintains knowledge and skills related to current industry trends.
- Aggregates all safety metric data (monthly safety reports, accident investigation, sustainability data, and employee surveys) across the organization and supply chain to measure progress and identify risks and opportunities.
- Administers the annual Safety Perception Survey in support of annual reporting initiatives.
- Leads safety training for all employees, including new hires, directly or through train-the-trainer methods in collaboration with Security.
- Administrates Injury and Illness Prevention Program as required in CA in conjunction with Facilities.
- Supports the corporate Safety Committee and delivers regular reports and recommendations to the Executive Responsibility Committee.
- Conducts or coordinates environmental and safety audits in Carlsbad on a regular basis.
- Maintains accident records and conducts investigations with the completion of reports required by law and company policy for Global Operations and primary suppliers.
- Attends and participates in corporate, insurance, government, Fire Marshall, etc. inspections in collaboration with Facilities and Environmental teams, as appropriate.
- Assists facility maintenance departments in complying with EHS regulatory compliance requirements.
- Performs other responsibilities as required.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Knowledge of Cal/OSHA, and other local/foreign safety regulatory standards and best practices
- Knowledge of incident investigation techniques (i.e.5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Skilled at presenting complex information to diverse audiences and building rapport
- Keen attention to detail and a sense of urgency
- Ability to work across teams and manage multiple priorities to accomplish tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) experience with Domo a plus
- Additional languages a plus (Chinese, Vietnamese or Spanish)
Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, chemical, safety or related science field
- 5-7 years of experience in Safety or EHS
- Must possess and maintain up to date First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications
- HAZWOPER certified preferred
- Certifications like a Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Normal office conditions with periodic visits to lab, warehouse, and production environments
- Ability to work extended hours as necessary
- Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
- Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials
- Occasional domestic and international travel (up to 20%)
TaylorMade is a performance driven organization and our total rewards approach to compensation is designed to support this. We consider many factors in determining base compensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location. The expected annual base pay range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000. Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
