Posting Summary	Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Visiting Researcher for NJMS- Public Health Research Institute Center. This position participates in research projects focusing on the antigenic variation of Trypanosoma brucei, the parasite of African sleeping sickness, under the direction of the PI (Dr. Hee-Sook Kim). The Visiting Researcher is expected to collect, record and perform data analysis, prepare reports for peer-reviewed scientific publications and conference presentations, and contributes to the writing of IACUC and IBC applications and fellowships/grants. Will report all research related activities to the PI and is expected to train technicians/fellows in relevant techniques as directed by the PI. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Performs experiments that include genetic, biochemical, proteomic approaches as well as HT-seq. Keeps up to date with technical and theoretical knowledge related to the projects. Generates, compiles and presents experimental data with appropriate conclusions, recommendations, etc. pertinent to research activity. Presents scientific/research contents in institutional, national and international forums. Contributes to writing of IACUC and IBC applications and grants to respective agencies.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience	Highly motivated researcher with a Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, or a relevant science.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities	Highly motivated, self-starter with enthusiasm and team spirit for research. Highly organized and willing to interact with other research group in collaborative projects. The candidate should have the ability to work individually and as part of a team. Applicants should have strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry and infectious disease. The candidate is expected to maintain high level of research competency, knowledge and skills to perform duties assigned by the principal investigator.
Preferred Qualifications	An ideal candidate will have training in molecular biology, large-scale genetic screen, high-throughput sequencing/bioinformatics and/or biochemistry. Experience working with Trypanosoma brucei in the area of genetics and biochemistry is an asset.

Physical Demands and Work Environment	Physical Demands: Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10) pounds. Work Environment: Research in BSL-2 laboratory
